The top enlisted at a Virginia Beach, Va.-based strike fighter squadron was fired Tuesday after an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment, the Navy said Thursday.

Command Master Chief (SW/AW) Joseph Storms of Strike Fighter Squadron 131 was relieved by Capt. Samuel Paparo, commander of Carrier Air Wing 7, Naval Air Force Atlantic said in a press release. At mast, Storms received nonjudicial punishment for failing to obey a lawful order and was found to have violated a lawful general order.

The investigation began March 12, three days after a command-managed equal opportunity officer received a tip about Storms, Naval Air Force Atlantic spokesman Mike Maus said Thursday. Maus was unable to say Thursday whether the investigation has since closed and did not specify the nature of the misconduct that led to Storms being punished.

Storms is the fifth top enlisted adviser fired this year, according to information provided by the Navy. VFA-131 is embarked on the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower, which is busy with pre-deployment training in the Atlantic.

Storms has been temporarily reassigned to Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic. Command Master Chief (AW) Kenneth Daniels, the air wing's CMC, has temporarily assumed duties as VFA 131's top enlisted.
