WEST POINT, N.Y. — An Iraq War veteran from New Hampshire is taking command of the New York-based 42nd Infantry Division of the Army National Guard.

Brig. Gen. Harry Miller officially takes over the 20,000-member “Rainbow Division” during a change-of-command ceremony Saturday morning on the grounds of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has been serving as deputy commander of the New York Army National Guard for the past year.

Miller is a former garrison commander at Fort Drum and has served two tours in Iraq. The Nashua, N.H., resident also served as director of joint operations for the New Hampshire National Guard.

The Rainbow Division is based in Troy and has other units in New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. The division fought in both world wars.
