WARNER ROBINS, GA. — Federal budget cuts mean temperatures are rising at Robins Air Force Base in central Georgia.

The Macon Telegraph reports that officials are bumping up air conditioner thermostats to 80 degrees at the base to save money.

Thatís 2 degrees higher than the Air Force standard of 78 degrees for thermostats.

The supervisor of the baseís energy office, Terry Landreth, says workers are being understanding about the change despite the prospect of working in 80-degree offices.

Officials also are cutting back on preventive maintenance to save money.

Scott Hastings, director of the 78th Civil Engineering Squadron, says the changes are directly related to across-the-board budget cuts aimed at reducing the federal deficit.
