MASCOUTAH, ILL. — An Army transportation unit has moved from Pennsylvania to southwestern Illinois’ Scott Air Force Base. The move means as many as 30 jobs have relocated to the installation.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports the Army Intermodal and Distribution Platform Management Office completed its relocation to Scott, near Mascoutah, early last month.

The unit was set up in 2003 at the Army depot in Tobyhanna, Pa., to address shortfalls in the military branch’s management of its container fleet.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania opposed the unit’s relocation to Illinois.
