FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Another batch of Army generals is at Fort Bragg so a judge can determine whether they are suitable jurors for a court-martial of one of their own.
Jury selection continues Tuesday for the upcoming trial of Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair, who has pleaded not guilty to charges that include forcible sodomy, indecent acts and violating orders.
During several days of hearings last month, all but two of the more than 20 generals interviewed were dismissed by a military judge following objections from prosecutors or Sinclairís defense team.
Those serving on the jury must be of superior rank to the accused. With just 230 generals in the Army, most either personally know Sinclair or the potential high-ranking witnesses in the case. At least five are needed to proceed to trial next month.
