FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police are searching for two men in the shooting death of a Special Forces soldier who was killed in his home.
Police identified the soldier killed around 8:45 p.m. Monday as 35-year-old Sean Wayne Wells. They say they donít believe the shooting was random because they think the family had some sort of relationship with the men.
Police Chief Harold Medlock says investigators donít know if the two men were invited into the home or if they forced their way inside. Authorities say a woman and child inside the home were not hurt.
Officers say a car stolen from the home has been recovered.
Wells was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group Airborne, according to the Fayetteville Observer. He enlisted as an air defense artilleryman in the Army in 1999.
