The Army’s Best Warrior Competition is back on and will take place Nov. 19-22 at Fort Lee, Va., an Army spokesman confirmed Thursday.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno mentioned at the Association of the United States Army conference Oct. 22 that the competition had been reinstated after the government shutdown postponed the event from the original Oct. 15-17 date.

Soldiers from across the Army — 12 privates through specialists and 12 corporals through sergeant first class — will report to Fort Lee for in-processing on Nov. 19 and will go on to compete for the next three days for the title of Soldier of the Year and NCO of the Year.

The 24 soldiers will be tested on their Army knowledge through a pre-combat inspection, a land navigation course, a physical fitness test, an M4 qualification range, a mystery event, and a selection board presided over by the Sgt. Maj. of the Army Raymond Chandler, according to an Army news release.

They will also be tested on warrior tasks and battle drills, take a written test and write an essay.

The competition will be live streamed at
