ADRIAN, MICH. — A hearing is scheduled in a southeastern Michigan court in the case of an off-duty soldier accused of strangling one man and stabbing another.
Thirty-one-year-old Brian Gogue is charge with open murder and a separate count of attempted murder.
District Judge James Sheridan is presiding over a preliminary hearing Monday in Lenawee County.
Joel Krutsch of Adrian was killed Oct. 5 at a mobile home in Raisin Township, about 50 miles southwest of Detroit. Scott Fernandez was stabbed in the shoulder.
Police say Gogue was on leave from the U.S. Army and visiting his estranged wife at the time.
An open murder charge lets the jury consider both first- and second-degree murder.
