The commanding officer of Navy Operational Support Center Harlingen, Texas, was fired Tuesday due to poor command climate, a Reserve official confirmed.
Lt. Cmdr. Dennis L. Holmes Jr. was fired by Capt. Jerome Hamel, commander of Navy Region Southeast Reserve Component Command.
The official could not elaborate on the firing decision, but said Holmes has been assigned temporarily to the Navy Recruiting District, San Antonio Detachment, also in Harlingen.
Cmdr. Reinaldo Morillo, CO of Navy Operational Support Center Corpus Christi, will temporarily assume command of NOSC Harlingen until a replacement for Holmes is identified.
According to Holmes’ LinkedIn profile, he has served as CO since December 2012 and served as executive officer at NOSC Detroit and NOSC Newport, R.I. He is a former operations specialist first class.
