Applications are being accepted from commissioned and warrant officer aviators for the fiscal 2014 Army Experimental Test Pilot Training Program selection board that will meet in early April at Human Resources Command.

Application packets for the highly competitive program must be received at HRC by March 7.

Officers selected for the rigorous training regimen will attend an 11-month course at the Naval Test Pilot School, Patuxent River, Md.

The school conducts two classes per year, one beginning in January and another in June.

Commissioned officers selected for the program automatically will be transferred to the Army Acquisition Corps, where they will spend the remainder of their careers.

While selections for the program are made on a best-qualified basis, desirable qualifications for candidates include:

■ A degree in an engineering, math or science discipline, and the successful completion of such courses as calculus, statistics, differential equations, aircraft stability and control, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, propulsion, vibration analysis, aerodynamics and performance.

■ Hold a rating as an instructor pilot, instrument flight examiner, maintenance test pilot or maintenance evaluator.

■ Experience in complex aircraft, such as the CH-47F, UH-L/M, AH-64A/D, OH-58D and/or military fixed-wing aircraft.

Commissioned officer applicants must be members of Army Competitive Category year groups 2006, 2007 or 2008, and be in active flight status.

Warrant officer applicants must be in the grade of CW2, or higher, and have at least 1,000 flight hours, to include at least 700 hours in rotary wing aircraft.

Additionally, applicants must have completed the appropriate military education level course for their grade.
