The top enlisted sailor at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Va., was fired for undisclosed reasons Monday, according to a Navy spokesman.

Command Master Chief (SW) Yves Raynaud was relieved of his duties by Capt. Frank Hughlett, Little Creek’s installation commander, following a captain’s mast, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic spokesman Jim Moir told Navy Times.

A Navy official with knowledge of the case confirmed that the investigation stemmed from an extramarital affair with a civilian.

Allegations surfaced against Raynaud in February, Moir said, but he would not elaborate on the nature of the allegations or the investigation that followed, citing privacy concerns for those involved.

Little Creek’s senior enlisted leader, Senior Chief Culinary Specialist (SW) Johnlyn Bolden, will take Raynaud’s place until a permanent replacement is found.

Raynaud, 44, was temporarily reassigned to the staff of Navy Region Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk, Va. Raynaud had served as Little Creek’s CMC since October.

Raynaud enlisted in 1987 and most recently served as the command master chief of the destroyer Gravely from 2011 to 2011 and the amphibious transport dock Ponce from 2008 to 2011.

His awards include three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, four Navy E Ribbons and the Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon.

He did not immediately respond to phone calls and an email seeking comment.
