Military Times announced Monday two key moves in its news organization: the promotion of Andrew deGrandpre from managing editor of Marine Corps Times to a new role as the company’s first digital news director, and the addition of Geoff Ingersoll as Marine Corps Times’ new managing editor.
“We are thrilled to promote Andy and welcome Geoff. Both are talented leaders with strong news backgrounds and successful track records in digital engagement,” said Alex Neill, executive editor of Military Times, the Gannett Government Media group that publishes Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times. “They will be instrumental in building out our publications on smartphones, tablets and computer screens across the U.S. military community.”
In his new assignment, deGrandpre will take charge of shaping and implementing news strategy for the company’s publications and websites.
In his more than five years at Marine Corps Times, deGrandpre proved to be a newsroom leader in driving digital engagement to record highs. He also stood out for leading his staff in robust coverage of the Corps, including everything from pay and benefits news to career features and bare-knuckle investigative reporting. He holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Ingersoll, Marine Corps Times’ new managing editor, is a former Marine Corps combat correspondent and, most recently, editor of defense and foreign policy coverage at Business Insider. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Penn State University and a master’s degree at New York University.
