NEWPORT NEWS, VA. — The Army’s Training and Doctrine Command is undergoing a change in command.

Gen. David Perkins will assume command from Gen. Robert Cone during a ceremony at Fort Eustis on Friday.

Perkins is the former commanding general of the Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Cone has commanded TRADOC since April 2011 and is retiring after 34 years of service. The command says it is responsible for developing, educating and training soldiers, civilians and leaders.

Army Chief of Staff Gen. Ray Odierno will preside over Friday’s ceremony.
