Promotion-eligible chaplain corps commanders will have to wait a bit longer to find out who will make captain in fiscal 2015, as the Navy secretary has tossed out the board results, requiring the panel to reconvene.
The news comes with the release of the rest of the staff corps O-6’s in an upcoming service-wide message, expected for release May 7, CNP spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Chris Servello told Navy Times.
The NAVADMIN will explain the lack of chaplain results from their Feb. 4 selection board.
The decision was made to nix the results because documentation used by the board to determine selection criteria was apparently not officially approved.
“The FY-15 Navy Active-Duty Captain Staff Corps Chaplain Corps Promotion Selection Board is being reassembled,” Servello said. “The first board used a community brief that wasn’t the final approved version.”
“Due to an administrative error unrelated to the conduct of the board, the FY-15 Navy active duty 0-6 staff corps CHC community brief was not provided to the board,” said NAVADMIN 102/14. “The approved version will be furnished to the board upon reassembly.”
Servello said there will be no changes to the list of who is eligible for this new board, which doesn’t have a convening date as of yet. It will be announced by Naval Personnel Command once it has been set, he said.
Eligible officers still submit correspondence to be reviewed by the reconvened board, but Servello said the board will only look at information related to performance or other matters which occurred before the first board convened Feb. 4.
