The gates at Fort Hood, Texas, were reopened early Thursday evening after traffic was blocked from entering the post during the afternoon, officials said.

“Fort Hood has resumed normal traffic flow through all installation access control points. Officials on Fort Hood initiated a prudent security measure based on a telephone call received here,” according to a statement from post officials. “After a preliminary investigation, Fort Hood officials decided to re-open the installation.”

Officials did not immediately give details on the nature of the telephone call, but a spokesman said the shutdown was deemed appropriate.

“We take force protection very seriously on Fort Hood, and will take prudent measures when necessary,” said Col Christopher Garver, III Corps Public Affairs officer in a statement.

All inbound traffic to Fort Hood, Texas, was blocked Thursday afternoon at all entrances due to a “potential force protection issue,” according to an earlier news release.
