Editor's note: Military Times will spotlight a group of GI Film Festival selections regularly in the run-up to the festival.

The Category: Healing Divisions

The Films: "Dawn" and "High Low Forty"

The Breakdown:

Veterans aren't strangers to conflict. Some thrive on it, excelling as chaos swirls around the battlefield. But when the conflict comes home, and when the fights are with family members, the skills don't always translate, and the wars aren't always won.

  • "Dawn" follows a service member home from war now facing the loss of his father and a secret held by his brother that could destroy his family's fragile foundation.
  • "High Low Forty" travels alongside long-estranged brothers on a road trip home, reconnecting as they prepare to say goodbye to their dying father.

The Screenings: Both films will screen at the U.S. Navy Memorial Theater on Friday, May 26, beginning at 4:50 p.m. Tickets are available here; full-festival passes are also available.

The Rundown: For more on these films and others, visit the GI Film Festival's official site.
