The Category: Warriors Around the World
The Films: "The Last Ring Home," "Medic," "The Space," "Who Sank Your Ships?"
The Breakdown: Four short films representing four nations span multiple conflicts to tell war stories -- fiction and nonfiction alike -- from new, often unfamiliar perspectives.
- "The Last Ring Home" investigates how the Naval Academy ring belonging to a World War II prisoner of war in the Philippines ends up in Korea years later, and how that officer's grandson tracks the jewelry's journey to uncover his family history.
- "Medic" joins a privileged young woman, sentenced to perform community service, who meets up with a combat veteran also looking to turn his life around.
- "The Space" follows a young British soldier who relies on advice from a medic to cope with the loss of a friend in combat in Afghanistan.
- "Who Sank Your Ships?" joins a young Israeli army photographer on what becomes a nighttime mission of romance.
