NATO receives offer of bullets that 'swim'

A Norwegian company has created CAV-X supercavitating bullets, which can “swim” and continue to perform underwater, according to  Military.com.

DSG Technology is offering NATO 12.7mm, 7.62mm and 5.56mm ammunition along with smaller calibers, said Kristian Aksnes, director of the company's special operations forces division.

The company produced and sold small quantities of CAV-X bullets for testing to international militaries earlier this year, but is hoping the U.S. Navy will see the value of its product, said Aksnes.

“You can fire from a helicopter and take out a sub if you have a big enough caliber,” he said.
