1809: The British took Cayenne, French Guiana, which they held until 1814.

1836: In the Battle of Wetumka, Seminoles in Florida ambushed 200 troopers of Col. R.C. Parish’s 1st Regiment, 2nd Brigade, Florida Mounted Militia, from both flanks, but were repulsed as the disciplined troopers dismounted and fought them off. At least six Seminoles died.
