Two service members killed in motorcycle crash on Okinawa

Two service members — a sailor and an airman — have died after a motorcycle crash Thursday in Chatan Town, Okinawa, officials in Japan said.

The sailor, who was assigned to Navy Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa, was taken to Chubu Tokushukai Hospital, in Okinawa City, but was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m., according to information from the military.

The airman, assigned to the 18th Wing, was taken to Chubu Hospital in Uruma City. The airman was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m. Friday local time.

The service members' names are being withheld until their families are notified.

No other information was available late Thursday Eastern time.
