Separation: Housing
If you live in military housing, you must schedule a final inspection and moving date with the housing office on your installation. Most bases suggest contacting the housing office at least 30 to 40 days before your moving date. Your housing office may have a checklist and timeline you can use for vacating your home during the separation process.
Service members must be available and accountable for the condition of the property until it is inspected and approved by the housing office.
If vacating quarters at the time of separation would cause hardship, you can request an extension to allow you and your family to remain in the quarters for a specified time.
