Goodbye, KITTY HAWK

This photo was sent to me by Brad, one of the stalwarts of the USS FORRESTAL Association. He said, “While in RVAH-11, I was with the Air Wing aboard Kitty Hawk in 1967-1968 in Vietnam. The old “home” is finally retired.”

The caption in the blue box reads: “USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) departs Yokosuka, Japan, for the last time. KITTY HAWK, the oldest ship in the U.S. Navy and the only conventional-powered aircraft carrier, will be replaced by USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73).”
