Goodbye, KITTY HAWK
Posted by Bacon on November 14th, 2008 filed in StoriesThis photo was sent to me by Brad, one of the stalwarts of the USS FORRESTAL Association. He said, “While in RVAH-11, I was with the Air Wing aboard Kitty Hawk in 1967-1968 in Vietnam. The old “home” is finally retired.”

The caption in the blue box reads: “USS KITTY HAWK (CV 63) departs Yokosuka, Japan, for the last time. KITTY HAWK, the oldest ship in the U.S. Navy and the only conventional-powered aircraft carrier, will be replaced by USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73).”
