A Sailor’s last day

On his last day before retiring, ADM Mullen and his wife Deborah visited Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath and plant a tree. He chose to spend his last day with those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Similarly, his predecessor General Peter Pace paid tribute to fallen comrades at the Vietnam Memorial on his last day as Chairman.
That sentiment is what drives those who wear the uniform in service to the country, and it is telling – and honorable – that both men felt compelled to spend their final hours in office among those who have gone before. Fair winds and following seas, Admiral.
