Tales from the Sandbox

Photographer Sheila Vemmer and reporter Andrew Scutro have recently returned from Iraq.
Miss Molly

Molly is a dog that has attached herself to the Soldiers of 2nd Platoon, B Troop, 7-10 CAV. She lives where they live, and any time they leave the wire to do a patrol, she’s right there, walking along with them.

They estimate she has had “like 15 litters” of puppies. She may even be pregnant with more. Molly is quite territorial - when stray dogs see the Soldiers walking along, they growl and bark (a problem for a lot of Soldiers in Iraq) but Molly just gives them the stink eye and the dogs run away. Good girl.
