A career catalog is your one-stop shop for everything a prospective civilian employer could ask for, says Virginia Employment Commission veterans representative Dave Silcox, a former Marine and speaker at Army Career and Alumni Program transition courses in the Washington, D.C., area.

The following is a list of everything Silcox says you need to create your own career catalog and a “master application,” so that when a company asks, every document is within reach.

Military service documents

1. Proof of military separation, Form DD-214.

2. Military training record

3. Verification of Military Experience and Training, Form DD-2586

4. Service record

5. Medical record

6. Honors and awards

7. Security clearance

Personal identification

8. Birth certificate

9. Social Security card

10. Passport or other photo ID

11. Proof of citizenship, if applicable

Work experience

12. Work history, including job titles, employers, duties and accomplishments at each job

13. Work samples

14. Honors and citations

15. Community activities

16. Salary history

17. References

Education and training

18. High school and college transcripts

19. Diplomas, certificates and licenses

20. Educational honors

21. Extracurricular activities
