This is the biggest mistake I have seen the Air Force make with my own eyes. It sounds great on paper and looks great at first, but what the planners didn’t take into consideration is that the base is not made to handle the volume of traffic it will be receiving, nor are the roads around it designed for efficiency.

Why the short time frame?

Why is it that staff sergeants get only 10 days to have their stripes put on when they make it and have to put on in September? The release date this year is 20 Aug. and the first sew-on date is 1 Sept. Yes, by this time frame anyone who is putting on in Sept. should have about 4 sets of ABUs ready with SSgt on them because it has taken them so long to make it, but why is it only 10 days?

Profiles process

I will tell you the entire profile process is corrupt. There are a lot of people out there who have legitimate profiles. Unfortunately, they are shadowed by the malingering masses who seek profiles to avoid duty. I am always [suspicious ]when an individual seeks a profile when pending a deployment or an unpopular additional duty.

Once members begin getting fit- tested by civilian personnel and can no longer count on their PTL friends to help fudge waist measurements and count their push-ups and sit-ups, the number of profiles will skyrocket. ... This whole process will be interesting.

Tricare

I wouldn’t want my health care to rely on an insurance company that can cancel a policy for any reason. Tricare may not be perfect but unless I’m willing to spend $50K on a private insurance policy, I’ll take it.
