Airman wins car on ‘Leno’

An airman in the audience at “The Jay Leno Show” is especially grateful this holiday season: He won a new car.
Capt. Tung Ngo was in the audience filled with service members when Leno called his name during last month’s special Thanksgiving program.
Ngo won a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. His name was drawn from a bowl with names of Air Force audience members after that branch edged Army, Navy, Marine and Coast Guard rivals in several competitions during the show.
But Ngo has a fellow airman to thank for helping him win his new ride.
Senior Airman Cameron Currie of Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., represented the Air Force during the competitions, successfully opening a can of cranberry sauce with a Swiss Army knife and tossing a pingpong ball into a glass of gravy, according to the Lompoc (Calif.) Record. Currie also won a foot race, beating an Army noncommissioned officer and leading Leno to select a winner from the Air Force.
Currie was also the one who pulled Ngo’s name out of the bowl.
Ngo, a Lincoln, Neb., native, recently transferred to a new assignment at Cape Canaveral, Fla. He told Leno he was glad to get an upgrade from the 12-year-old car he drives.
