New ad racist?

This is a wonderful ad - very moving and clever. I can't believe anyone would call it racist. People are just looking for something nowadays to a point of reading racism into everything that's said. Go Marines!!

I do not know what idiot said the ad was racist but that is totally wrong. as a father of a radio op recon marine. all his guys loved it. cause when he came up from the pool he was a recon marine. oh by the way in 4 days we will see our son. it has been a while. since january. we take as little as we can get to spend time with him. each thansk giving I cook the turkey and everything else my wife does that. it has been a tradition with us since 1982. the good thing he will be with us so we can eat turkey, watch the cowboys and out texas longhorns.

When my son went to marine boot camp in 02 he could swim but only under water. he could not pass the marine corps 1st class swim test. it was always the 3rd class swim quals or 2nd class swim quals. on his 2nd enlistment to qualify for recon he had to have a 1st class swim test. so I told him find the oldest grizzly gunny that runs the swim quals and have him work with you. well after being there a month he passed the
1st class swim test. so it worked. since then he had a ruck sack on his back and had to swim 2 miles into the ocean and back. so the effort you gave to swim worked out. it is the effort you gave to do this is what counts. you will do fine in My Navy. just do what you are told when you are told. you see the navy is a learning experience. I had no problem passing my swim cause was raised in louisiana and texas and went to the beach and pools all the time. but the bottom to this is congratulations good luck in the silient service.

I served on 2 amphib's marine helo carriers(USS TARAWA LHA-1, PRECOM, USS PELIEU LHA-5 PRECOM,
USS OKLAHOMA CITY CLG-5(CRUISER), USNS PASSUMPSIC T-AO-107 REUFLEING SHIP, AND USS ROANOKE AOR-7 ANOTHER REFUELING SHIP). When I retired in 1993 the navy credited me with 15 years and 6 months of sea duty)

The main point of that ad is he went down to the ocean a young man, and came up a marine!

This is such a big so what!!! When I was in the Corps and had to do my swim qual; yes I made first class and most of the brothers didnt pass. Oh well, they were trained and qualified at another level. I grew up in New York City and wasnt afforded alot of things that other people were use to but I adapted and overcome/came. That is the moral of the story and ad. No need to look beyond that. If some people see things in a twisted light (just like when it came to this year's politics, then so be it). to each; its own.

I think that the next set of commercials should show a male and female from each and every ethnic/religious background. That way, nobody gets offended. Oh wait, they need to be in a circle so that the albino-asian-christian doesn't feel that he was descriminated against because his "representative" was at the end of the line or in the back of the photo.

Hard to say anymore, because so few ads feature white males in them anymore. The TV ads that do always show white males as the idiots or office clowns where a woman or minority, or preferably a minority woman, has to "educate" the stupid whitle male on the best copier, the best long distance, etc. You hardly ever see white males(I'm sorry, "European Americans) portrayed as they really are in the business world.

Im still awaiting to see SNL spoof Hussein Obmama. Wanna take bets on when we see comedians start to make fun of him? I doubt if we will because they are literally SCARED of being called racist.

A lot of planning is done when making a commercial, a lot of money and time is spent on which demographic they're trying to market to. It's no accident that these ads happen during basketball games, it's no accident that almost all military commercials are made with minorities. There's one where the family was just brown, they made it very vague as to what their race was, so they can cover multiple races.
