The commander of Navy Recruiting District San Antonio has been relieved of his command after an investigation found he had created “an unacceptable command climate,” according to a Navy announcement Tuesday.

Cmdr. Vincent Quidachay was relieved Monday by the commander of Navy Recruiting Region West, Capt. Kathy Baran, according to an e-mail from Lt. Cmdr. Lisa Braun, a spokeswoman for Naval Recruiting Command.

Steve Hendrickson, a spokesman for Navy Recruiting Command, would not elaborate about the ways in which Quidachay’s command climate had allegedly become “unacceptable.” Hendrickson said the investigation that uncovered the problems was spurred by a tip called in to a Navy Recruiting Command hot line, although he didn’t know when that tip came in or how long the investigation had lasted.

Braun’s announcement mentioned specifically that Quidachay’s recruiting district had met its goals for fiscal 2008.

Quidachay is the second recruiting district commander relieved in as many months. Baran relieved the commander of Naval Recruiting District Denver, Cmdr. William Pieseski, in June for failing to meet his goals.

Quidachay’s executive officer, Cmdr. Angela Katson, has assumed command of NRD San Antonio, according to the announcement.

Does anyone have a follow up to this? I didn't hear too much about it and am curious as to why Quidachay's command climate was unacceptable.
Many thanks,
F. Moore

It sounds like the Navy wants all chicks in charge of recruiting. Maybe there is some sexism going on. I noticed that all the comanders are now chicks.
