So tell me...what do you have to do to get promoted? Been time in grade/time in rank for 18 months, have enough points, infact was sent orders for BNOCK from ARMY...NOT MY UNIT...I passed BNOCK and my MOS says automatic promotion but my unit won't pin me. And they have not counceled me during the last 18 months to say why they won't and haven't even given me a change of rater since I moved to this new unit 10 months ago. My last NCOER is great. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not in the military. Hwvr, I have worked in business for 17+ years. It's difficult, at times. Especially for a female in a male dominated mgmt team. I have learned over and again to channel my energy into my core values (faith, family and evrything else). I focus on the task, not the tower and take heart in what I have accomplished. Humbleness and faith have proven a great return on my investment. I hope U keep faith and remain focused on your goal. Be patient -you will get there!

How in the hell do you pass BNOC if you can't even get the acronym right?

So VERY sorry JetTeach....I guess you have never made a typo error. I guess it comes with being INFANTRY. Please forgive me.
And "Thank you" for your kind words suz.
But I guess I can't get an answer here either. I guess I will follow JAGS advice and go to IG. Have a great day!

Well, I may be able to help. If you are in the National Garbage, then you ain't sucking enough assholes, (LITTERALLY, NO KIDDING) If you are in the Army Reserves, then your UNIT doesn't trust you enough. If you are Active Duty, then your command isn't WORTH A FUCK! That just about sums it up!

The best thing for you is to go to I.G. I was in a similar situation when I was waiting to pin on E-5. After that my E-6 and E-7 were right on time. It only took me 3 years to get E-7. Fight for what is yours. Blessings.

A typo is mispelling a word ONCE. If you refer to the same word more than once and spell it the same (wrong...BNOCK) on each occasion, then more than likely it's not a just a typo, the person doesn't know it's wrong. JMO

The acronym is BNCOC. Basic Noncommissioned Officers Course. And it's not called that anymore. It's called ALC (Advanced Leaders Course).

Why don't you lay off the kid, Jet? Especially when you can't even spell it right.

And Leadintheway, the DA selects you for ALC. You unit does not. So it's not unusual at all for the Army to select you for that class.

I know you were trying to be positive and reassuring, but your answer was a long-winded way of saying "hang in there." In fact, I'm being generous even calling that an answer.

This is an old post. I'd like to know whether this situation was ever resolved and, if so, how.

In order to answer your question, I need to know a few things.

First of all, what unit do you belong to, and is it Regular Army, Army Reserve, or National Guard. This is important because they each do things differently.

Second of all, how much Time In Service do you have?

Third, what other schools and courses have you attended, and how did you do in the final exams?

Fourth, have you deployed at any time in your service?

Finally, is there a Slot in your MOS open for you in your current Command? If not, is their one up or down the Chain, or can you find one elsewhere and swap your assignments?

Thanks in advance.

"BNOCK" as a written word is indeed incorrect. However, it is the way we pronounce BNCOC, and as we have pronounced it since the Acronym was first created. Those of us who understand the difference tend to overlook the misspelling because we KNOW what the speaker/writer is saying, and correcting them is not absolutely necessary.
