If you have not heard the powers that be are ordering the KC130J community to cut down the crew from 4 to 3. 2 Pilots and a super crewmember. For those of you that are not familiar with this ongoing travesty here is a quick breakdown of what is happening. Currently the crew on the KC130J is 2 Pilots, 1 Crew chief( Flight Engineer), and 1-2 Loadmasters depending on the mission. Well now an Deciding influence who has 0 (ZERO) KC130 experience is telling the KC130 community to merge the Crew Chief and Loadmaster MOS in to 1 super crewmember. To put it nicely this is not a smart move. First of all just the Crew Chief training cycle take approximately 18-24 months just to basic qualified. The Loadmaster is about the same. So by converging both MOS's you are looking at trying to get qualified in your first enlistment of 48-60 months. What a joke! Basically what the decision makers are trying to do is make the Marine Corps KC130 like the Air Force. They do not reallize just how successfull the crew members on the KC130 accomplish the mission. By reducing the crew to 3 it will dramatically reduce mission effectiveness period. I really don't understand how someone with no KC130 experience what so ever can be in charge to make a decision like this. For all of you who have ever flown on a HERC in the Marine Corps don't hold your breath in the future if you are wating for a ride.
