Get rid off 3-round burst.

I think the Army needs to get rid of that stupid 3-round burst mode in the M16A4 and M4 carbine. They should replace all M4s in regular Army and USMC units with the M4A1 and upgrade the M16 AGAIN back to having full auto capabilities such as a M16A5 model.

Every other nation in the world has full auto assault rifles and America is the only nation to use that pathetic 3 round burst thingy.

Or maybe replace the M16/M4 with the SCAR or H&K 416?

You can't hit anything on full auto, plus your ammo is gone in like 3 seconds. You can't even supress the enemy effectively on full auto and keeping the weapon from climbing up is almost impossible.

The H&K 416 is highly effective. The Army proved it when the purchased several hundred for Special Operations, then renegged when they realized that they were effectively giving the thumbs up to the weapon, creating a justification for further Army-wide use.

I'd buy another H&K 416 if the Army would let me use it, but that won't happen.

Dude the H&K 416 is full auto in less you want that to have 3 round burst too. Maybe they should make all machine guns also have 3 round burst so they don't waist ammo.:rolleyes:

My question is why you would even use Full auto. I'm looking for a specific situation that would warrant wasting an entire magazine in 3 seconds. Only thing I could think of is if someone is too scared to stick there head up and wants to Iraqi offhand it around cover and shoot. It isn't accurate at all and wastes ammo incredibly fast. Just my input. I'm only an 11B but I have never used 3rd burst outside basic training and would never use full auto or 3rd burst in a combat situation.


.....Unless you get us some of those movie guns that seem to have 75rds in that tiny 30rd mag. If I could shoot as much as they do without reloading I might try it out.

There is a reason the military got away from full auto. During Vietnam soldiers were averaging 100 rounds to kill one enemy soldier. Hugh waste of ammo when you consider you only carry 210 rds. If you just want to have fun and burn up ammo than go with full auto but in combat stick with 3 rd burst or single shot more effective.

As far as the H&K 416 it is a good weapon thats why the Army won't buy it. Just like the replacement for the M16 before that. It was proven to out do the M16 and was in production when it got halted because other companies didn't get a chance to put their 2 cents worth in.
