JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina-based Marine officer was awarded the Bronze Star with a combat “V” on Monday for his actions last year in Iraq.

Maj. Mark E. Slusher, 2nd Marine Logistics Group’s operations officer, received the medal in a ceremony at Camp Lejeune.

As a military transition team leader working with the Iraqi army from April 1 to April 28, 2008, Slusher advised an Iraqi battalion commander leading his team through combat operations that “cleared multiple insurgent strongholds and [weapons] cache sites throughout the city of Basra,” according to a 2nd MLG news release.

While enduring enemy small-arms fire, Slusher also pulled five injured teammates from a vehicle hit by makeshift bomb, officials said. He then moved them to safety and administered first aid, according to the release.

Go figure, another officer getting a high award for doing what anyone else would do. I bet that if it was a Sgt or a PFC, he'd be lucky to get a Meritorious Mast.

Hey at least he has a V device. You have these senior enlisted and officers just getting a bronze star because they do their job during a deployment. Whoopie doo, that is nothing to brag about. Get a BS or Army Commendation with a V device and you get some kudos but if you really want to impress me, write a computer program lol.

Moral. Awards and medals on the chest doesnt make the man but civilians wouldnt know anyway.
