EASTPORT, Maine — The Coast Guard says a fishing boat crew came to the aid of a crew whose boat was sinking off the Maine coast.

A distress call came in Monday afternoon from the Sea Asylum, a 37-foot commercial fishing boat from Lubec that was taking on water. The Sea Asylum was about three miles north of Eastport when its pumps could not keep it afloat.

While the Coast Guard launched a rescue boat, the crew of a 45-foot fishing vessel, Perfect Choice, responded too and took the four-man crew of the Sea Asylum on board.

The Coast Guard boat and the Perfect Choice were able to pump out and re-float the Sea Asylum. The Sea Asylum was towed back to Lubec and no injuries were reported.
