So we are finally going to see the Air Force recruiter tomorrow and I am excited. I am also very nervous that he will feed me all sorts of lies to get me enlisted. I have heard recently that most branches have met their quota and so they are not pressured to get everyone to sign which might result in more honesty. I don't know if that is true, but I am still nervous. Me and my hubby have prepared a list of questions but I want to know if there is one thing we should make sure to ask or to ask for? I have college credits and I am going to make sure I can start as an E-2 (or so I've been told). Is there anything else I could get in writing such as a job / particular base / etc? Thanks so much for your help!!

Did you set up an apt with the recuriter or are you planning on just walking in? The Air Force is such a good deal we dont have to lie to get you in. If you want a job with many, many great benefits and job security with notihng but a high school diploma or some college credits, the AF is the best option you have. You wont get a guarenteed base. You will list preferences at basic training after you have already commited. The AF will put you in one of those preferences if they need a 3 level in your career field. If not they put you were they need you. I would suggest listing over seas bases as your first choices as they have shorter tours and are easier to come by. England, Italy, Germay, Japan, ect are all great places to be stationed. You will have to list 4 jobs choices that you are quald in and the aptitude area they fall under at meps. You may get booked in a particular job or the job area. If you get booked in the job area you choose(mechanical, admin, general, electrical) you will pick your job from that area at basic training.
A list of questions what I always suggest because many people tell me they had a load of questions they couldnt remember. If you have over 20 college credit hours you qualify for e-2. Over 45 you qualify for e-3. The credit hours have to come from a college the AF accepts. Small town USA tech academy may not count. Most comm. college and regular colleges do. www.onlinediplomas.com....ect....probably do not.
Why do you want to join the AF? What benefits are you looking for? What are you concerned about?
Did you recruiter ask you a a load of eligibility questions? If not you may not even be able to join. Approx 80% if people that call/walk in are not.

I wish you luck for the recruiter - and you will do a great job I'm sure!
The biggest mistake you can make is not to be prepared and I'm sure you are :)
The situation makes me think about an article regarding the 15 strangest college courses i found after doing a research on the top online colleges (http://www.onlinecolleges.net/2009/02/25/the-15-strangest-college-courses-in-america/).
You will love it!

Really? Wow, I actually feel special now. I'd never heard that figure before.
@ Airforcemommy--Are you prepared to deploy and be away from your family? Though we still have the reputation, the Air Force is not the soft option it used to be. You'll see that at basic training. When I went through it was all about folding t-shirts, a lot of classroom, some PT, some marching and one day shooting.
Now recruits carry a weapon the whole time, PT almost every day, fire the M-16 rifle and M-9 pistol, spend a week in the field and do hand-to-hand.
I'm not trying to discourage you in any way. It's the most rewarding job I've ever had and the pain is worth it in the end. I just wouldn't want anyone to come in not knowing soem of the reality. Good luck.
