A horrible thought just crossed my mind. We discriminate against veterans in our hiring practices. Bear with me for a moment and I will explain. If two twenty somethings walked into an Air Force recruiting office and had the exact same moral, mental, and physical qualifications the individual who had never served a day for his country would be hired instead of the OIF/OEF vet. It is outrageous that a Marine, Soldier, or Seaman would be told to hit the street before the civilian who at age 18 was either unqualified or unwilling to serve. I know we had choked the Prior Service program down to just a few hires but I do not see why an otherwise qualified veteran should take a backseat to a civilian.

I agree. It is extremely difficult for me to put an prior enlisted from any service including the Air Force. We are only accepting certain MOS from the army and certain career fields/time served from the AF. To be honest almost every prior service person I try to put in is broken.(no go discharge codes/credit/dependency/law issues/age/physical issues). I dont recruit anywhere near an active base from any service so I'm sure my scope is limited.
