Hi,

I'm in a process of applying to the Marine Corps as an officer right now,
and I came across the sheet asking about my tattoo.

I do have one on my upper thigh, size is about 2 inches and it's usually invisible when I wear shorts.
Since my mother is from Okinawa, it says Okinawa in Japanese Kanji symbols.

I was wondering if that will disqualify me from becoming an officer in the Marine Corps.

I would appreciate it if anyone can give me some information about it.

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.

How can I get a waiver for it?
And is it a disqualifying factor?

The recruiter will get you a waiver and no it is not disqualifying. Tattoos are not disqualifying. I had tattoos prior to joining and I got a tat waiver and then once in I got a few more

If you can't even see it in PT gear, chances are it will be no problem at all.

Have your recruiter pull out the Volume 1 or A.K.A. MPPM (Marine personnel precurement manual) It will have the guidelines on it in there. It's the "bible"
