Hello,

New member here, I am looking for a ship's patch. There was a ship called the USNS General Maurice Rose (T-AP-126), called "The Rose" for short. I was used from everything from transporting hungarian refugees in the 50's to carrying troops bound for Vietnam in the 60's & 70's.

One of the routes it took in the 60's included the SouthHampton, England to New York, N,Y, route. As an infant I was brought to the United States on board this ship. I have since honorably served in both the Army & Navy (not bad for an Irish Immigrant!).

I am a biker and wanted to redo my vest with patches from my Army and Navy history but also wanted to inlcluded a ship's patch from the ship I came over on in the 60's.

Does anyone know how to look up a ship's patch for the USNS General Maurice Rose (T-AP-126)?

Wow! Read up on MGEN Rose, quite the history on this guy. I found ship's history and some photos (just do a Google search), but no patch. Likely it didn't have a patch, but it is possible. You might want to check with the Naval Historical Center at the Washington Navy Yard - they might have something on file for you.

Yoman - ever try the "Amarillo Road House" out on Fort Crook Road? I think I posted before that they have awesome babyback ribs (if you are a carnivore...)

I miss Omaha - lots of good places to eat and drink

I'll have to look them up and give it a try. Yes, I'm most definitely a carnivore!!! :D

Conctact your ship's store representative, when I was in charge of my ship's I recieved many catalogues that had patches from nearly every command. Chances are if it had a patch one of those catalogues would have them and information for ordering them. Only problem there is that you need to order a good amount, usually atleast 25-50.

Unrelated to the ship's decorative patch, but your post reminded me of a story a petty officer once told me about the small sleeve patches, worn on junior enlisted service dress whites and blues, that identify the sailor's ship. The petty officer told me that when he had shore patrol duty, those patches came in real handy when sorting unconscious drunken sailors for return to their ships.

One way you can find the patch - and likely some shipmates - is join "Together We Served" on the web. Someone there might have a patch.
