I have been thinking about joining the military for awhile now, and I did venture into the Army National Guard quite a bit, but something just kept turning me to the Marines. But I know the Marines are strongly male based than any other service, and I was wondering how do they get treated overall, and is it a good idea?

You need to google Women Marine Association and ask them. You may get lucky and have a chapter close by so you can go speak with these women. Best of luck.

The Discovery channel produced a good DVD about Marine Corps boot camp. The title of that DVD is Making Marines. Watching that DVD will help you decide whether you really want to enlist in the Marines. You can purchase that DVD on Amazon.com.

Truthfully, if you want to be politically correct or hate when someone yells at you, not the place to come. As a female Marine, you will almost always be considered a "whore, slut, etc" because some of the previous females in the Corps have tainted that name. When you pick up rank people will profess that they dont think a girl deserves to get promoted over them and such. Being male based. you wont have to deal with harrasment or anything like that. Its an experience.
