Reenlistment Headaches

Feel free to chime in if you have any knowledge regarding reelisting. I am currently stationed overseas with a DEROS of 28 Oct 09. I tried to extend in Nov 08 but was denied due to manning at our squadron. Well i reenlisted on 23 Feb 09 hoping to get retainability so that i can get an overseas assignment. I was just told a couple of days ago that the involuntarily extended me to meet my DOS of 27 Sep 10 even though thats not my current DOS because i just reenlisted to 27 Sep 16, they just havent updated it at AFPC. Is there anything i can do to switch my DEROS back to Sep 09 or is my new DEROS of Sep 10 set in stone???

Are you on a short tour? Sounds like you didn't make the DEROS option brief, checked the wrong box on the form, or the MPF messed it it up. Or any combination of the above. If your DOS doesn't allow the required retainability to PCS then the policy is to extend your DEROS to your DOS. As you now have the retainabiluty it shouldn't be too difficult to fix.

I'm curious, where you trying to extend your tour or your enlistment when it was refused for manning issues. If it was your enlistment then I'm not sure who got involved in that issue. Best interests of the AF extensions have sweet F all to do with what your squadron says its manning issues are. AFPC gives the yes or no. Unless you mean your squadron commander wouldn't even sign the form.

I'm more curious to know how you managed to reenlist for over 7 years.
