First off, Hello.
I am a senior in high school, graduating in december (i'm an early graduate, not late..) any who. I've been thinking about joing the military for quite some time now, and I am looking for some guidance. I am involved in a serious relationship with an Airman right now and we have talked through some stuff, but I really want some in put from an outsider.

1st: pro's/ con's to going military as opposed to going to college or going to college and getting a degree before signing. The major I am going to declair is trauma/surgical nursing (for college).

2nd: What would be the chance I would get a spot in a nursing Tech school?

3rd: Does my medical history disqualify me?
I had a surgery in July of last year to repair two ruptured tendons in my ankle, I have insomnia, anemia, really lose joints (making me prone to dislocations), I have dislocated my knee, and hyperextended it twice, and low blood sugar. (thats all the major things)
I am very physicaly active but at the same time I highly doubt my definition of a work out is the same as the military's.

There is more running through my head, but I cant get the thoughts together to make much sense, so for now this is what I have.
Thank you for your time.

If your relationship's serious, stay in school. If you come into the Air Force you can't guarantee the two of you will be together. If you get married there's joint spouse assignments, but again no guaratees. The con to being a civilian partner/spouse if that you have to change school/job whenever she/he gets a new assignment.

As to specifics, you need to talk directly to a recruiter. If you're set on nursing you'll need to talk to an officer accessions recruiter, we don't have enlisted nurses. The recruiting office will give you the best info.

Our PT requirements aren't that stringent. You need to be able to run 1.5 miles, and knock out about 50 each push-ups and sit-ups--varies with your age and gender. If you go enlisted the PT requirements are a little higher and you'd need to complete a 2.5 mile run.

I don't know about your medical history. To me that sounds like a lot of stuff, but I'm not in medical or recruiting. You might be able to come in or you might not. Again, go talk to a recruiter.

If I haven't said enough, go talk to your nearest recruiter or chat online with the recruiting service though www.airforce.com. Most of us can tell you about general Air Force life, but for recruiting specifics ... well you know where to go. Good luck.
