Does anyone know if your AFSC *HAS* to carry over to the Army if you cross over or can you change your job?

Of course it doesn't. You can ALWAYS be an 11B-provided you are a male...

What is 11B? I am Air Force and do not know MOS codes as of yet.If it was sarcasm, don't worry about it

If you want a specific job in the army, you can get it as long as your asvabs qualify you. Your AF life really doesnt transcribe to your army life. Your rank will even be subject to change. Your EPRs mean nothing, ALS gets tossed. Job training and basic training are moot. You will have a shorten course for BMT.

I think 11b is infantry.

Well, I said subject to change. You could still keep e-6 or e-7 if you have had them on long enough. Most recruiters will tell you AF personel gain the rank structure quickly after crossing over, so I would say go to talk to a recruiter.

I believe they would take my 3 month staff stripes away. But like you said. I should go talk to someone to be sure. Thanks for the help

Well, I think if you could hold off for 3 more months, I think they will stick. I think 6 months is the time you need to keep them on for it to go over with you. But I am not 100%, it has been 3 years since I saw the recruiter myself.

Did you use this program? (Blue 2 Green)

You also might want to check the manning for your AFSC. AFPC isn't letting people go like they once were. Force Shaping is over and now they have already realized they cut too deep and are trying to get the #s back up.

No, my careerfield opened back up the very next day and I reenlisted soon after. I was only going to use the Army to stay in the military if I couldnt stay in my AF careerfield.

but you are always allowed to seperate and reenlist afterwards.

Crosstraining is not looking so good since my job is on the critical list. Hence why I am looking to go elsewhere. My goal was to get out of this AFSC at 5 yrs but unless I go EOD or pararescue/TACP, my only other option is blue 2 green or get out and go to another branch.I do appreciate the help and advice though.

Not true at ALL!! You used to be able to come back on your DOS and re-enlist-can't do that anymore. If you waited until you already separated, you are SOL. You can contact a Recruiter but the chances of getting back in are Slim and None and Slim is on his way out the door. when AFPC took over separtions, they elimintated the whole go on terminal leave and change your mind thing. You outprocess, you are G-O-N-E gone. If you are a critical AFSC, you will not be able to use the Blue-to-Green progam. You CAN separate and then try to get in the Army but that isn't the Blue-to-Green program that is just a Prior Service Enlistment application for the Army.

The later is what I was talking about, but good clarification on it. I had a friend that had to wait till he got out to get in the army after the airforce. I didnt keep up 100% with his situation.

I know a guy that for some reason his "plan" was to take terminal leave and re-enlist on his DOS. He came in a day late. His wife was PISSED!! Went to the Recruiter to try to get back in.... Ended up working about 6 hours away from home until he joine the Reserve about a year later-never did get back ADAF.
