Questions-Coast Guard

Hi,
first post.
I was hoping someone could answer a couple questions I had.

Currently, my goals are to enlist in the coast guard.

But since I have a G.E.D, i need to go college and get 15 credits before they will take me. I just don't quite understand why. Federally, the GED is stated as equal to a high-school diploma. So, yeah, just curious why its so hard to enlist.

we hold our members to high standards, but waivers are granted ... apply and see what happens...part of the process is to see how badly you want to join...i started just after my 17th birthday and it took me 11 months for medical evaluations to be completed prior to me being signed in, but i did make it eventually
