Hello All,
I hope this is the right section for this.

I am considering joining the Air Force by way of AFROTC, but have a few questions regarding assignments after completing the program. I am currently finishing my bachelors degree and intend to take the CPA exam in the near future. I am also planning on pursuing a masters in software engineering.
While doing a little research, I noticed the university I will be attending for grad school has a AFROTC program for grad students. This seems like a good fit since I'm interested in joining up.

Here's the question: If I get through AFROTC and receive my masters degree, what are my chances of being assigned to a position that utilizes one of my specialties (accounting, software engineering)? I've heard you fill out a "dream card" of positions you want when you are commissioned, but are required to put in a combat position as one of them. I understand we are at war, and I am not afraid of fighting for my country, but I am also interested in advancing my career (I am a computer geek at heart)...

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

You fill at a form towards the end of your AFROTC training that lists all the courses you have taken, average grades in various areas, and then your preferred careers. Now, this is not a guarantee, but there is a good chance you will get something in the field you desire if your courses match what the field requires.
