My son is currently under stop loss orders, on his second tour of Afghanistan. He wants to re-enlist, due to the fact that there are not many jobs around here right now, and the Army works for him.

His 1st Sgt is telling him that he CAN NOT re-enlist because he is under stop loss. WTF? That makes no sense at all to me!

The Sgt told him something about getting the $500 a month stop loss pay and the re-enlistment bonus. I told my son, that I am sure that if he has the $500 stop loss that he wouldn't be able to get the re-up bonus as well. That it would be one or the other, but not both. But the Sgt is insisting that he is not eligible to re-enlist.

Can someone explain this to me? It makes no sense whatsoever that the Army would turn down any experienced Soldier that wants to re-enlist.

Thanks for any information you can lend to me!

After, I believe, 30 June, anybody under stop-loss orders can't re-enlist in the Army. Tell your son to double check with his reinlistment NCO to better understand his situation.

Act like you want to get out and they'll keep you...

If you are too eager to stay in, they'll kick you out....:D
