The Air Force met its recruiting goal in August, bringing in 2,681 new airmen for the month, according to the Air Force Recruiting Service’s monthly report released Sept. 11.
The service has met its goal every month this fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, and has so far recruited 29,693 new airmen. The goal for the fiscal 2009 is 31,980.
The average recruit this year is 20 years old; almost 79 percent are male and 21 percent are female.
So far this year, the new recruits have been 76.8 percent white and 17.9 percent black. Almost 16 percent of recruits report they are Hispanic.
