View Full Version : Is it possible to change a school date?

Trying To Find My Way

I have a few questions regarding new reenlistment options. I am in an overstrenght mos (92Y) and was seeking a new mos (68V). My unit is deployed and I am in a stop movement status. I went to see my retention NCO to see if I can change my mos and he put in a offline request. He called me yesterday to tell me that it was approved and that I would have to come in to start the paperwork. The school date is in 2011; however, I wanted to go a little earlier. I read the new policy for reenlistment and it states …

c. Army Training Reenlistment Option (E-3) - Training Processing

Non-deployed Soldiers/Units: All training start dates must be within 12
months of request date; regardless of the type of unit the Soldier is assigned to.

Is there anyway "according" to this policy update for October 1 to change my school date for an earlier one prior to signing the new contract?

Are you saying you don't trust your retention NCO? Why not confront him with the evidence you've uncovered that says training must be within 12 months of the request date? Is it possible he dated your request date for the time you're scheduled to come off deployment?

I'd suggest to him the retraining is the sole driving determinant whether you reenlist or not. It might get his attention. Otherwise, fly away.
