My recruiter has not yet asked me or talked to me about having a job before I enter boot camp. Is this a problem and should I be worried that after boot camp I will be doing a job that I will not be happy with, like scrapping paint and painting?

your recruiter should be talking to you about you ASVAB scores and the rating(s) which you qualify... after that you still can be the rate you desire if you do not qualify by taking specialized parts of the ASVAB...you should review the rates at http://www.gocoastguard.com/find-your-fit/enlisted-opportunities/enlisted-ratings-descriptions ... this will give you an idea or two...
