I was wondering.. If you are serving in "Stop loss" and decide to re-enlist as a special forces soldier... Signed papers and all... BUT you still have another year, from your back draft to cover... Can you train for the special forces under the year left to cover, or are you not allowed to train until the additional year is served???

Thank you for your time.

I am not the subject matter expert so maybe someone else can come along and add to or correct me.

You can go to SF selection whenever you get a school date for it. Not sure if you can get selection in a reenlistment contract.

If you fall in under stop loss, you must wait until you redeploy back to your home station until you can go do anything under the reenlistment contract. That is usually 60-90 days(it's waiverable) upon redeployment to home station.

oh ok. I see. The contract was signed already, though... So if there's another year I have left to serve, it doesn't matter.. I can still go ahead for training after the 60-90 days pass once I get back home?

What do you mean by waverable?

Thank you very much

You have 90 days to serve with your home station before you can be released to PCS/ETS/etc. You can put in for a waiver to only do 45(I'm using this number from what others have done)days. And I believe it goes up to Brigade Commander for approval. Maybe the Battalion Commander but not sure.
