Since i was young my dream has been to join the Marine Corps. Unfortunately the recruiter in my area is doing the opposite of recruiting. Many people who are as willing as I to join the Marine Corps are being driven away due to his laziness and incompetence. I was told during the beginning of the summer that i had to wait untill October to enlist. I have called him multiple times and he is either doing something else or hasn't answered his phone. I have also gone into the office and he is either never there or he tells me he has heard nothing to help me. This is a very sad and poor impression on a fine military branch. All I have wanted to do with my life is join the Marine Corps and I am finding this extremely difficult to achieve. What can I do? this is not just me with this problem, there are many others i know who are friends who wish to join the Marines but are being driven away.

If your a high school grad then go to another office. Shoot me a message for more guidance.
that is the RSS, likely. find out where the RS is (google), and talk to the senior man you can find there.
tell him your story.

They fall under the 8th Marine Corps Recruiting District. Contact their rep at the following numbers and explain your situation. Ask them to have another recruiter from the RS in Phoenix contact you. Do not return to the Prescott Va. station.
If you have further trouble, contact me by PM.

There is more to this story. I can see why he wanted him to wait until Oct but all the USMC Recruiters that I have known over the years don't turn away fully qualified people just because. It sounds to me like this kid has something wrong with him and the Recruiter tactfully dismissed him but he isn't getting the message.

Having recently returned from 30 days of recruiters assistance, I have a unique perspective on this matter. Many times, recruiters are not just looking for the average Joe that wants to join. Often they are given a quota that needs to be met, but the quota contains individuals that need to meet a certain criteria. For instance... One month the quota might be 5 people, but they need to be Juniors in highschool... In cases like that, everyone else that joins is like the icing on the cake... The recruiters are going to devote more time to finding the individuals that meet the criteria they were given, and unfortunately, if you don't fall in that criteria, you are going to be placed on the backburner until the mission is made.
Also, take into consideration the economy. Right now the military is probabaly one of the arrest moves a person can make if they ate looking for a steady income. ALOT of individuals are wanting to join right now and the Marine Corps has already met it's mark of having 202,000. Because of this, recruiters kind
of have the luxury of picking and choosing who they would like to work with and recruit.
This is simply what I observed while being TAD in the 9th district for 30 days. If this one recruiter is not being very helpful, talk to a different one located in a nearby county or city. You might get somewhere
that way.
